Draftly is a Google Docs add-on that helps writers track the progress of their manuscripts.
Draftly is designed with privacy in mind. Your document content is never transmitted to external servers and is processed only within Google’s Apps Script environment while the add-on is running.
Google user data accessed
Draftly accesses only the Google Document that is currently open when you use the add-on.
The add-on may access:
- Document text
- Document headings and structure
- Word and character counts
Draftly requests only the minimum Google OAuth permissions required to provide its functionality.
Draftly does not access any other Google Drive files, Gmail data, Google Contacts, Google Calendar information, or any unrelated Google Account data.
How Google user data is used
Google user data is used exclusively to provide the features requested by the user, including:

Calculating word and character counts

Detecting chapters and sections

Tracking manuscript progress

Displaying writing statistics

Saving user preferences
Google user data is not used for advertising, profiling, analytics, marketing, or any purpose unrelated to the functionality of Draftly.
Google Workspace APIs are not used to develop, improve, or train generalized AI and/or ML models.
Application settings
Draftly does not have its own database and does not permanently store or retain Google user data.
To provide a personalized experience, the add-on saves a small set of application preferences using Google Apps Script User Properties, including:

Word and character targets

Section targets

Language preference
These preferences are stored within Google’s infrastructure and are associated with your Google Account. They are used solely to remember your settings between sessions.
Draftly does not store, copy, or retain the contents of your Google Documents.
Data sharing
Draftly does not sell, rent, share, transfer, or disclose Google user data to third parties.
Google user data is disclosed only if required by applicable law or valid legal process.
Data protection
Draftly does not operate external servers.
All Google user data is processed exclusively within Google’s Apps Script and Google Workspace infrastructure.
Google user data is never transmitted to, copied to, or stored on systems controlled by the developer.
Draftly requests only the minimum Google OAuth permissions required to provide its functionality.
Data retention and deletion
Draftly does not permanently retain the contents of Google Documents.
Document content is processed only during the execution of the add-on to provide the requested functionality. Once processing is complete, the document content is neither stored nor retained by Draftly.
The only information preserved between sessions consists of the application preferences described above, which are stored using Google Apps Script User Properties within Google’s infrastructure. These preferences remain associated with your Google Account until you remove them or uninstall the add-on.
Users may revoke Draftly’s access to their Google Account at any time through their Google Account permissions page.
