Overview
Draftly is a Google Docs add-on that helps writers track the progress of their manuscripts.
Draftly is designed with privacy in mind. Your document content is never transmitted to external servers and is processed only within Google’s Apps Script environment while the add-on is running.
What data Draftly stores
Draftly stores only a small amount of user preferences, including:
-
Project title
-
Writing goals
-
Word and character targets
-
Section targets
-
Language preference
These settings are stored using Google’s User Properties service and remain associated with your Google account.
Draftly does not store your manuscript.
Document access
Draftly requires permission to access the currently opened Google Document in order to:
-
Count words and characters
-
Detect chapters and sections
-
Calculate writing progress
-
Display statistics inside the sidebar
Document content is processed only while the add-on is in use.
No external servers
Draftly does not operate any backend servers.
No manuscript content is uploaded, sold, shared, or analyzed by third-party services.
Third-party services
Draftly operates entirely on Google’s infrastructure and uses:
-
Google Apps Script
-
Google Docs
-
Google Workspace APIs
These services are governed by Google’s own Privacy Policy.
